Shameless Self Promotion for Quilters

If you are a Crafter and want to share your craft online then this is the place to start. You have many options and choices when deciding how to generate an income from your craft. It's best to explore a few of these options and see which one(s) work best for you.

1. Selling your hand crafted items.
2. Selling kits to Crafters.
3. Teaching your Craft.

No matter which of these you chose to start with, there are a couple steps you can take before making that choice.

1. Get your item or prototype completed. Pick a couple of niche categories and focus on creating a couple items for each niche to sell/promote.

2. Take good photos of your item and get them online. I love to use Flickr. It allows me to Describe and Tag my photos as I upload them. I can them blog them straight from Flickr directly to my Blogger accounts.

3. Do some keyword research to see what is popular within your niche. If you can, make items that are already popular that you can make a profit off of.

4. Calculate your Hours. Decide exactly how long it will take to complete your item. You will also decide on a desired wage. Be sure to predetermine what an hour of your time is worth. This will help you decide on a price to charge for your item.

5. Research your item's competition. What networks are they using to promote themselves.

Don't worry if your favorite thing to make doesn't seem like it can turn a significant profit. Keep it in the back of your mind and use the pics you have generated to create content. You can always teach your craft to others and make some bucks from Adsense. I will discuss setting up an adsense account later in the week.

Ok, now that you have decided on a product, you should document your entire process from buying supplies to picking colors, patterns, materials, fabrics, beads, each step will create great content for your upcoming venture into the world wide web. Get lots of close ups and even pics of your item being used. Baby items are always a great way to show off a real cute baby.

I will cut this post short and continue from here next time. Stay tuned for a screencapture video of creating an adsense account. I will also walk you through choosing the best Network(s) to start promoting yourself. For now, Join TheTrunkShow and create your profile.
